There are certain things we do that greatly affect the growth of our social media audience. I've been doing some of these things in the list below, but I didn't know they all had a name/title until I watched the social media audience money video course.
Here they are:
1: I'm doing my best to make sure that I build a good reputation online. A good name, they say, is more valuable than riches.
When I create an eBook/class/course, I make sure that I deliver as promised. Instead of over promising and under delivering, I'd rather underpromise and overdeliver.
This doesn't mean that I don't make mistakes. I have, a lot. And whenever I do that, I make sure I apologize publicly or privately, as the case may be.
2: Leaving a good and lasting impression on people I meet and connect with daily.
Yes, there are trolls and draggers that can sometimes get on my nerves and make me emotional. Yes, I react badly many times, but when that happens, I do my best to apologize and make things right.
"People may forget what you did for them, but they'll never forget how you make them feel".
"People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care".
These words keep me in check whenever I'm dealing with people.
3: I document and share my experiences a lot. Talk about trichotillomania, life lessons, and even my recent episodes #amakainlagos where I share my adventures in Lagos with all it's craziness.
These experiences help me connect better with my audience, increases the know/like/trust factor because they too, can relate with the experiences I shared.
4: I show gratitude to my friends and followers. For the reviews, referrals, sales, shares, increase in followers, gifts, mentions, and tags, I make sure to appreciate them.
It's not easy!
5: I share my vulnerability with my audience. If you've been with me for a year, you would have already read my trichotillomania story. They are life embarrassing stories that only few are bold enough to share...
But I share them and more, and this helps me connect deeper with my audience and makes them see me as their fellow human, instead of just an influencer.
6: While I may not actively promote people on my timeline, I refer clients to my friends a lot.
It doesn't cost me a thing to refer my hardworking friends to people who need their skills, but most times, the kind gesture comes back to me in 10 folds.
These amazing individuals gifts me airtime, data bundles, referrals, free shoutout on their profile, shares and many more.
I once received N7K for an innocent referral to someone after going through their course. I wasn't expecting that, but that experience taught me the benefits of giving referrals to whom it's due.
One more thing! Promoting people wouldn't decrease your followers or customers except you really don't know what you are doing.
I once had that mindset and I'm glad I no longer do. Let us do away with that pauper mindset.
No audience belongs to you alone. Whoever is following you is following hundreds, if not thousands of other people.
Not promoting others won't stop them from unfollowing you or following more people.
Understood?
7: I do my best not to look down or talk down on anyone. That person with 50 followers can be the client with the big deal, the big referral, the big connection or even the big contract.
Yes. There are people who do the extreme, but I do my best to keep my emotions in check while dealing with them.
If it gets worse, I use my block button or completely ignore them, instead of acting condescending towards them.
8: I make use of links in bio, about sections, posts and comment sections to automate my way to bigger social media audience.
When someone clicks on my linktree on my bio, they have the links to follow me on many of my social media accounts, and even my website.
I don't have to send the link one at a time, they have it in one place.
9: I learnt how to speak in public. While I'm yet to speak offline, I've spoken on many virtual stages and will soon be speaking offline.
Doing this helps get fresh eyes on me and my brand, and this increases my social media audience.
10: Collaboration! I did this twice or thrice last year and I'm out to do more of it this year. My first collaboration with The Dominator; Lucky James was more than successful and I look forward to more like it.
These (and more) are my takeaways from the Social Media Audience Money Course by Emeka Nobis .
This course highlighted the things I did in the past that worked for me, and now, I'll be doing more of them.
Which of these will you start/continue doing in order to build a MONETIZABLE social media audience?
