My lady,
I'm so sorry I haven't sent you a letter for close to 2 weeks now.
I confess; I've been lazily busy 😅
Oh! And today's topic is out of the box but read on, I've got one or two lessons to share with you.
Now, my Oha soup recipe is nothing fancy.
If you don't know the popular “Oha Soup” then you should visit Anambra State for a taste of this delicacy.
You should be able to order it online though…
My ingredients:
Oha leaves
Uziza seed & leaves
Fresh fish / meat
Crayfish (surprised?)
Stock fish (optional)
Ogiri (what's the English name again?)
Cocoyam
Maggi, pepper, oil and of course, water.
Did I forget anything? 🤔
Anyways, that's my ingredients for preparing this popular soup.
Now, to the meat of the matter:
I cook my meat & fish first, then use the sauce to prepare the main soup by adding ogiri, crayfish, maggi, pepper, oil, cocoyam, and the leaves at the end.
Boom! Soup is ready and the aroma is everywhere. No fancy stuffs, no extra spices but delicious as ever.
Now, to the lessons:
Looking at my list above, you may want to add or remove some ingredients from the list.
In fact, you may love using spices to increase the aroma and taste of the soup and that's your choice.
I've met people who know all the ingredients but yet, they can't seem to be able to get the soup right.
And I've met people who can use little ingredients and prepare a perfect soup… people like my mum & I 😉
What am I even saying?
There's no lesson in this letter 😅
Just do what works for you.
And don't just know the ingredients (secret to success), know how to prepare the soup (apply those secrets to be successful).
Happy weekend from this side, my lady.
I'm back from my short break.
Do you have any questions for me or there's something you want me to write about?
Reply this letter.
I'll personally read and reply your email.
Thank you 😊
P.S: If you ever decide to prepare this delicacy, just send me a plate. I'll be eternally grateful to you 😁
Aww
Thank you so much, Ma'am
Oha soup is not completed without ogiri
My Dad hates the odour. It's always a tussle between him and mom. But when the food is ready, he would almost bite his fingers while eating.
I don't think there is any substitute for ogiri
Still learning to eat off oha. I would always pick egusi over Oha.
❤️
